I was presented with the opportunity to direct and style a photo shoot in collaboration with Persuasion Models. I pitched the idea of a denim exclusive shoot and we immediately went to work. Shot by Flaco Van Gough, Denim on Denim was brought to life.

The Process

Our process began through the influences of hip-hop and pop culture in the 2000s. This era seemed to have a more elevated approach to the popularity of denim that has lived through multiple decades of fashion.

With emphasis on embellishments, denim sets, and low-rise jeans, I created a moodboard and pitched it to my collaborators. Additionally, I created a shot list to make sure every shot was captured the way in which we planned.

On shoot day the team was tasked with setting the scenography along with shooting and styling 10 models within an hour. Even on a time crunch, the whole team was extremely professional and contributed to the success of the vision.

Key Takeaway
This collaboration reminded me to be more proactive. When I have an idea in my head, it is important to take the necessary steps to bring them to life. The idea for Denim on Denim had been stored in my brain and journal for months. My final thought was: why did it take me so long to do this?
